Acorn Woodpecker at Granary (7345)
An Acorn Woodpecker removes an acorn from a drying cavity before finding the appropriate-sized hole in his granary. North American Acorn Woodpeckers are dependant upon oak trees and their acorns, which provide almost half of the food for this bird and enable them to survive through the winter. Granaries have been known to store up to 50,000 acorns.
