Western Screech Owl Variation<br />
Western Screech Owls, like several other owl species in North America, show a great deal of variation across their range. This particular Seattle Screech Owl is typical of the coastal birds of Washington, British Columbia and Alaska. Northern birds tend to be larger and have more pronounced “ear-tufts” and coastal birds are browner and darker as you move north. Screech Owls of the interior are grayer.
